Cat is the main culprit, as she both draws and writes (sort of) A Summer Wasting. She is a 21 year old student in New York state, and is often messed with by the Powers That Be.

Eleanor is Cat's neighbor, friend, and Sugar Mama this summer. She is more subtle than a stack of bricks, but not by much.

Ryan has successfully managed not to accidentally kill himself or others, which is a stunning accomplishment. He is convinced that A Summer Wasting will make him an Internet Rockstar. This is impossible because there is no such thing.
